American Cheeseburger S/T 7" e.p. (Tsu-006) OUT NOW!!!!!!!! $4.00 ppd!!!
No nonsense type thrash that will whoop your ass blind. Catchy tunes about vampires, drinking beer, and how the world is crumbling into a pile of steaming manure. If you like your thrash raw; and ass kicking, then grab a barley soda and put this record on your turntable, you won't regret it.
here's what the critics had to say about this e.p.:

AMERICAN CHEESEBURGER - s/t 7" EP (Tsunami) What a fun, though short, ride this was. I would had been a little longer had I not realized to switch from 33 to 45 rpm (that's 'revolutions per minute' to the CD-only crowd). A bit reminiscent of a lot of the early bands on California label Slap-A-Ham (Tsunami Records is from the other coast - Maine). American Cheeseburger is a four-piece from Athens Georgia featuring drummer Jason Griffin of Tres Kids, and they rock the power-violence for thrills and thrash up songs within a minute or so - sometimes less. The track "Cheeseburger" being the shortest and funnest song on the disc, while the 7" record's closer ("Idle Hands") was the longest track at around two minutes. The music is in the vein of Infest or Spazz, with fast, punky thrash parts usually sliced in half by slow, moshy breakdowns. The vocalist - James 'Equalizer' Greer - does an almost gargling shriek I find more on black metal projects than anything else, though you can't make out the lyrics here, but it works for AmCheese. By the look of their MySpace page the road gigs are long and packed together, so these kids are busy, and that's what makes a good band even better. They're on the right track with the tunes and the work-ethic. Thrash on American Cheeseburger... just make mine a soy patty. (May 5, 2007)

Imagine if The Fall and Refused got it on and had an ugly little thrash baby named American Cheeseburger. This quartet from Athens is bound and determined to make as much pissing noise as possible on a 7 inch, and boy do they get the job done. Somehow they cram in more than half a dozen manic tunes while the record spins at 45 RPM.
The punk roots of American Cheeseburger are undeniable, yet the avant garde nature of their obtuse lyrics put them right in line with Mark E. Smith. It's easy to imagine him doing riffs off lines like "Explosive paradise nocturnal transmission", even though Cheeseburger singer James screams the words with sheer incomprehension. Add to that the sonic bombast of a guitar-bass-drums wall of sound, and you've got a recipe for tasty Southern thrash

I don’t know what the local guys in American Cheeseburger think they’re doing with this project, but I know what I think they’re doing: everything exactly right. When a band is named “American Cheeseburger,” there’s a cartoon drawing of a lightning bolt zapping the World Trade Center on the back of their record, and the music is as much of an awesome iron fist in the face as this self-titled 7”, you have to remember to forget about “figuring it out.” With American Cheeseburger, there is nothing to figure out; there is only the will and the right to thrash, and by “thrash” I mean spill the blood of a beer-spitting, circle-pitting, greasy-haired beast.
For all their nonsense of presentation, the music of the big Cheese is a refreshingly raucous pipe-bomb blast to the sternum that perfectly typifies the swirling abandon lying at the heart of all true rock and roll. Some might call this punk rock, though there are guitar solos here played by Steve Armstrong, a man who clearly reveres guitar solos without a shred of irony, and it totally makes sense. The guitar solos don’t necessarily make the music not punk rock - they simply make it honest. This recording accurately captures the fast and mean reality of American Cheeseburger, a band that might, literally, kick you while you’re down. Lyrics such as “it always seems like there’s someone who prefers merch sales to mayhem,” spewed from James Greer’s glass-gargling larynx, hint at the general modus operandi of the group: this music is played simply because the members must play it.
Too many “heavy” bands - especially from small towns like Athens - are so self-conscious (almost ashamed, it often seems) about being heavy or fast that they hide behind some ridiculous façade, not actually bothering to create music worth listening to, but being able to pretend that they don’t care because “it’s just a joke, anyway.” This record burns those bands to death and buries them in the ashes of their own charred skulls.

There’s no denying that this is pretty fucking cool. Four piece punk rock that is high on the spazzness. The opening ‘Classic Mantra’ with lyrics such as ‘Spread the sickness of self enlightenment watch the world crumble while laughter echos in your mind’ sounds like it was written by that Korean dude who went bat shit at Virginia Tech. The record cover is of a photo of people who all myspace each and probably fuck each other having a back yard bbq. This is Southern Thrash that is fun and pure. I look forward to hearing the new record that they got coming out on Rock Bottom Records.

Monday, February 18, 2008 littleballs.blogspot.comAmerican Cheeseburger-Demo 7"![]() write up: Hailing from the hot murky South comes Athens, Georgia’s American Cheeseburger. These Southern gentlemen really know how to play fast thrash-y hardcore without the cookie cutter sensibilities that make so much of this style of music saturate used bins. They have been flooring a good portion of the USA from their constant touring and manic live shows for the past couple of years now and show no signs of letting up. They have played alongside bands like Double Negative, Nine Shocks Terror, and Municipal Waste along with some of the bigger fests like Chaos in Tejas. Sailor Winters "Monolith" 7" e.p. (Tsu-005) OUT NOW!!!!!!!!! $4.00 ppd!!!
Ambient slow noise made from tape loops and keyboards, with heavy brooding monotone vocals. One 8 minute song in two parts on each side of the record. Solo project from ex-member of nocturne for a dying planet and divorce. For the true noise affecionados to appreciate. This record is available on blue wax, and limited to 300 pressed.
here's what the critics had to say about this e.p.:
Short Fast And Loud Issue #18
Sailor Winters "Monolith" 7inch
Heavy drone with echoing snail paced percussion, and sluggish punctuations that sounds like a chorus of constant lashes. Monstrous vocals roar over hypnotic din. Lyrics included, imagine that? No indication if it's 33, or 45, but 45 sounds right. Then again at 33 you can bask in it a bit longer. It's one constant track that cuts off abruptly at the end of side A, and resumes immediately on side B. No artistic fade out/fade in. Funny. Overall reminiscent of the first MITB "Our Earth's Blood" 7". Handscreened cover and rad blue wax, too. (Chris Dodge)

SAILOR WINTERS - Monolith 7" SINGLE (Tsunami) Sailor Winters is a ambient noise-tinker from where the peaches grow: Georgia. This single is one song, continued from side A to B, and it displays what I think SW would sound like as a live show. Though I wouldn't know without actually seeing it... except in my own crazy mind, of course. Still, the track has an 'Aphex Twin plays live instruments' feel, with an older, retarded Frenchman rapping at intervals. Humorous, yet dark, and almost danceable. The layout is a simple neo-Primitivist hand-screen of artwork by Nate Lang, and the disc itself is blue vinyl, and - I'm sure - limited. (Dec 15, 2006).com
KFJC On-Line Reviews
Sailor Winters- "MONOLITH"-[Tsunami Records]
Noise record solo project by Sailor Winters featuring loops and analog "black noise". Combine side A and B to make the whole track. Play it on 45 rpm! Side A opens with a haunting drum beat echoing a hellish drone and joined with curdled, monotonous grunts, so distorted that one message becomes clear: It is coming from the seediest pits of hell! Tracks like this should replace the phony 'scary' soundtracks of alien videogames like Doom and Halo. Try to imagine a lawnmower running over a high school marching band stuck in a pit of tar, sluggish and sticky but constant in its carnage. No samples were used on the album, and lyrics accompany the 7 inch insert.

NO! "RELAX" 12" l.p. (Tsu-004) OUT NOW!!!!!!!! $9.00 ppd!!!
Face melting high velocity thrash duo from the dirty south. Similar in sound to a manic schizophrenic being sucked into a vortex of a hardcore/grind tornado. Sure to leave your head spinning in one dose. This record is available on white wax, and limited to 500 copies.

NO- "Relax" LP
Relentless two-piece thrash autism from Athens, GA. Classic boxy DRI riffage with the occasional anthemic breakdown or mind-rattling noised-out NO COMMENT styled jam. Corky at times, but rockable.
Nocturne For A Dying Planet 7" e.p. (Tsu-003) OUT NOW!!!!!!!!! $4.00 ppd!!!
Experimental Noise project from the vocal masterminds behind Divorce. This analog duo uses keyboards, loops, and samples to create a hypnotic soundscape that is frightenly mind bending. Distorted keyboards and eerie piano tap into the resources of your subconcious, while looped samples derived from earth's and man's own nature, are masterfully woven throughout. The record plays like a soundtrack to the most inner recessess of your human fears, not to a movie. The record will be available on gold wax and, as always limited to 500 copies.

Heartattack #48 December 2005
Nocturne For A Dying Planet 7": Think Beherit through a phase shifter. Noise for sure. Very experimental, very cool, very satanic sounding. Yellow wax. (NW)
Short Fast And Loud #15
Nocturne For A Dying Planet SAC101RAS 7": Another one of those records you can't figure out if it's 33 or 45. I'm guessing it's 33 but it sounds fine at both so i'll just go with it. 2 tracks of noise on here with actual instruments creating the sounds instead of just electronics. Reminds me of a more structured Sunn or a more metal Factrix. Lot's of feedback, harsh guitar noise, ear peircing keyboards, some piano and guttural vocals (there's actually lyrics included). Side 2 was my favorite, it starts off with an almost song like structure of vocals and feeback into a nice piano breakdown eventually degenerating to a squealing loop. More noise on wax! www.tsuthrash.com
Divorce 7" e.p. (Tsu-001) OUT NOW!!! $4.00 ppd!!!
This now defunct 5 piece thrash/grind unit will totally blow your mind (at least they did mine)! Blazing stuff here folks! They hailed from Athen's GA, and feature ex-members of such legends as Goat Shanty, and Tres Kids. To say that I will miss this band is an understatement to say the least. This is unrelenting grindish type thrash that is sure to tear you a new a-hole; and it's on red wax and limited to 500 copies. So get it now, before my last fifty copies are gone.

Maximum Rock n' Roll #247 december 2003:
Divorce- ep: Fast Southern-bred grind on the punk side of the fence, from Athens, Georgia. Dual vocals, which alternate, high and low; blasting drums: distorted riffs (quality style I might add); negative, frustrated lyrics: everything needed for a damn good grinding time. Get these boys some of that Swedish Grind production, I bet they would make for some great big huge monsters of grind then (think Godzilla size). (WM)
Heartattack #40 November 2003:
Divorce-7" ep: Not what I expected from the cover... Divorce play furious grindcore whith an unrelenting tempo. These songs bang and crash together while the vocalist do the low voice/high voice thing. Their lyrics are cryptically strange, so you really can only guess about what any of them might specially be about. For the most part, they explain feelings of despair, frustration, and rage. Divorce are the perfect band for the next Godstomper or Agothocles split 7". (LO)

Slug and Lettuce #78 Winter 2004
Divorce S/T 7" - Furious Hardcore/ Punk/ Grind from Athens GA. For some reason I was expecting more straigth up 80's hardcore from this, but it sounds straight out of the 90's with a grind infected growling vs. screeching vocal pair up. This works for them, and their harsh, straight ahead momentum, akin to early powerviolence (without the weird shit). Definately worth checking out - (JAY)
Warprayer # 112
DIVORCE – “s/t” 7”: DIVORCE contain ex- members of RASH OF BEATINGS plus GOAT SHANTY, so you know these guys don’t fuck around! 10 slashing anthems of hyper quick, ultra brutal and totally relentless grinding power violence with a throaty screamer as well as with a low growling, guttural grave digger on the microphones! If you enjoy RASH OF BEATINGS, GOAT SHANTY or DISSENSION (anyone remember them?) as much as me, you’ll love DIVORCE too! This shredding masterpiece will nail ya to the next wall immediately!! [Tsunami Records]
Punk Planet # 66
Divorce - s/t 7": Everything dirty comes from the South. I don't know if it's the humidity, grits or rural Alabama, but for a region with sparse uban centers, some grimey-ass shit comes out of it's anus. Divorce were dark and deranged hardcore grind from thier home of Athens, GA. They've honed their songs to be brilliantly captivating and fail to fall into a repetitive rut. The production gives an eerie mechanical atmosphere that sounds like factories breaking and corroding. One harrowing vocalist accented with deep guttural growls, all over some bass heavy grind. I'm not kiddin, but this sounds like junkies dying in an industrial wasteland-and that's great. (VC) (Tsunami Records)
This Scares Me e.p. (Tsu-002) OUT NOW!!! $4.00 ppd!!!
In preperation for there west-coast tour, TSM has blessed my with the high honor of releasing there first offering on wax. These folks are so unique and original in style, that it's incredibly difficult to describe there sound, but here goes (another lame attempt). Picture if you will something, that doesn't' sound anything short of stunning musically in every fashion and doesn't conform to the current trend of cookie cutter hardcore. They mix elements of surf-style guitar, with driving distorted basslines, pounding fast techniqual drumming, and raspy screaming style vocals. This one-sided e.p. is limited to 500 on clear wax.

Heartattack #43 September 2004
This Scares Me- 7" e.p.: Sadly, I've heard that This Scares Me had broken up due to the fact that one of the band memebers has come down with a life threatening sickness. Now that scares me. Anyway, this is an awesome looking record. The design is really fucking top notch. The record itself is one sided. The five tracks featured here are frantic and ugly hardcore with a manic feel to them; sort of a blend of screamo and thrash and a touch of grind. The woman who provides the vocals goes for a screaming assault that works well. Really nice. This record is probably sold out now, since there were only 500 made. (KM)
Maximum Rock 'n Roll #257 October 2004
This Scares Me- "Don't Mind If I Fucking Do" e.p.: Brutal thrash-violence hardcore attack out of Athens, GA. Nasty-edged with some great pummeling song-structures that keeps the head thrashing till the neck snaps. Fans of the southern states style of hardcore assault and intensity should definately check this out. One-sided clear vinyl in a numbered edition of 500, packaged in a fold-out sleeve with a bloody gauze bandage wrapping it. Killer. (WM)

This Scares Me – s/t : 7inch
When your packaging resembles the inbreeding of the two best Witching Hour releases (that’d be Saetia’s Eronel and the Usurp 6”, fool) it’s not only nice that your tunes are great, but also a pleasant surprise when you actually manage to buck any preconceptions one might make from judging books by covers. Ahem. This Scares Me (who the observant among you may remember from the excellent Times Are Hard For Dreamers comp) manage all of this, storming through five songs in not much time at all and sounding like no one in particular while they do it. Via a series of muddy crashes and bangs, a barreling, chaotic hardcore band emerges, capable of simultaneously bludgeoning the listener and surprising them with snappy stops n’ starts. Part of me is reminded of Coleman’s heavy-handed brutishness thanks to the dark, murky sound of the music and the ferociously hoarse female vocals, while the looseness of the songs smacks of bands like Palatka and all their slapdash glory. Lyrically we have a series of bleak little things wound tight with gauze and pinned securely in place, packed full of bloodsoaked, nocturnal imagery and an understandable mistrust of other humans, adding another toothsome layer to a record I desperately hope doesn’t fall through the cracks in a sea of mediocre releases…

THIS SCARES ME
"Self-titled" single-sided 7 EP
Somewhere between The Locust and Guyana Punch Line, This Scares Me plates up a share of screaming powerviolence that'd give a soccer mom diarrhea in just one dose. There's absolutely no letup in the bludgeoning. The lyrics read like how a Hieronymus Bosch painting looks - grotesque piles of dark deeds populated by a world of insanity and blackened hearts, all washed in blood. The packaging is phenomenal. A ribcage opens up to internal organs. According to their website, they broke up. -Retodd ($3 ppd., Tsunami) -10/8/2004
Short Fast And Loud #12 Nov. 2004
This Scares Me: EP
This Georgia HC band has a very unique delivery using intense percussion and an jagged modern hardcore base. The drummer rarely uses a straight "thrash" beat, yet the songs are speedy, relying on mood and tension to drive their beats. Not your typical fastcore band, that's for sure. Especially of interest are the cruelly harsh lyrics, depicting the mind of a kid at the end of his rope. Fuck yeah, this band does indeed "scare me" and if the music doesn't, the packaging will.
